CJM'S JULY LIVE AUCTION

A Grimsby biker’s pride and joy . . . a top-of-the-range machine capable of speeds of close to 200 mph . . . is to go under the auctioneer’s hammer after being seized by bailiffs.

The Honda Super Blackbird was taken when the biker failed to pay his council tax!

The machine’s now been sent to industrial auctioneers CJM Asset Management and it will be sold off at the firm’s Scunthorpe Auction Centre on Tuesday (10th July).

Auctioneer Paul Cooper said: “We’ve had a number of cars sent to us after being seized by bailiffs for non-payment of council tax but this is the first time we’ve had anything like this sent for disposal.”

“It is a bit of a monster, 1100cc, capable of speeds of in excess of 175mph. It was first registered in 2002, at which time it would have cost around £8,000. We think it will go for around £2,000 next week but in this situation there is no reserve and it will make what it makes.”

The most valuable lot in the auction is a Scania tractor unit that has been sent for the sale following the bankruptcy of an Immingham company. The tractor unit is expected to make £15,000-£20,000, with its low bed step trailer making another £2,000 - £3,000.

The auction also includes thousands of pounds worth of computers and IT equipment that has been sent for auction following the collapse of a telemarketing company in Stoke on Trent and the closure of a Derby company.

Mr. Cooper said: ”We’ve got 35 AMD Sempron personal computers, with flat screens, that have come from the Stoke company’s call centre. They were delivered to them at the end of 2005, so they are just eighteen months old. They are expected to make £50-£100 each.”

“From the Derby company we’ve been sent a range of Hewlett-Packard computers, Pentium 4s and Celeron Ds, with flat screens. We’ve also got some good printers including a laser jet printer/scanner/copier/fax”

“From there we have also got leather upholstered meeting room and reception furniture, a huge number of beech effect desks and a lot of good quality ergonomic office chairs.”

The IT section of the auction also includes a dozen 30 inch Philips flat screen televisions that were used in the now-closed Toyworld Megastore in Leeds.

The plant and machinery section of the auction includes some of the most valuable woodworking machinery to be seen at the centre for some time. The star lots include an SCM panel saw that is expected to make £2,000, a Sedgwick tenoner that has a pre-sale estimate of £1,750 and a Sedgwick planer that is valued at around £1,500.”

Mr. Cooper said: “It is one of the best sales of the year so far with a lot of high-value equipment in very good condition.”

In all the sale extends to close to 750 lots. The viewing sessions are on Monday (9th July) 1pm-7pm and on Tuesday morning from 8.30am until the start of the sale at 10 am. Catalogues are available from CJM or can be downloaded free of charge from the firm’s website: www.cjmasset.com
