3,000 albums including rare classic Pink Floyd record to be sold on Tuesday 10th December
Tuesday 10th December will see a huge collection of classic vinyl records going under the hammer in a spectacular Eddisons CJM auction. This lifetime passion of one private local collector extends to over 3,000 albums including some very rare records – many of which appear never to have been played.
As we see so often with collecting, seemingly insignificant little things can have a huge impact on values. Rarity and condition are clearly important but then so too are early pressings, errors in the labelling of discs or covers, typing errors and even colours.
The lot that is expected to attract the most interest is ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ – the 1973 record that propelled Pink Floyd to international stardom and which is now regarded by many critics as one of the greatest albums of all time. It has now sold in excess of 45 million copies but ours has a blue triangle on the disc label, which marks it as an early pressing. It is expected to sell for around £1,000.
And that is just one of countless treasures in this remarkable collection; every single record of which has been researched, examined and catalogued in a heroic effort by members of the saleroom team.
The full auction catalogue is available at www.eddisonscjm.com & www.eddisons.com, while details of viewing times at the Auction Centre on Dunlop Way in Scunthorpe are available at www.eddisonscjm.com. The Vinyl Records Auction closes at 6pm on Tuesday 10th December.
